Wintour to Retire?

The Queen B. Editor in Chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, might be leaving. According to Page Six, an insider reported “Her contract is up soon; she feels she's done it all and had enough.”

Wintour turned 59 last month and Grace Mirabella—former Vogue editor—left the magazine at 59. So, in all actuality the idea of Wintour retiring isn’t exactly far fetched.

Humm…

Anyway, on a different note, she was awarded an Order of the British Empire for "services to British journalism and fashion in America" at Buckingham Palace last week.

Here’s what she had to say about fashion in an interview with B. Walters a few years ago:

Flash Back to the 80’s

Reebok and designers from Formavision, have teamed up to create a pop up (or flash) store to display classic Reebok styles from the 1980’s. But this isn’t your typical shoe shop—unlike any other boutique, the Flash Store is brightly colored and three dimensional.

Yup that’s right! It’s designed to trick your eyeballs as the distorted graphic patterns seemingly reach out and tap you on the shoulder.

The 3,000 square-foot shop features limited-edition sneakers and exclusive apparel collections including “Insta Pump”, “Bodega NYC”, and an array of t-shirt styles by Reebok and Rolland Berry. And to create a bit of urgency, Reebok will release a new limited edition sneaker each week available for that week only.

Surprisingly, the sneaks won’t set you back too far; the limited edition shoes start at $90.

So get there fast and check out the 411: Four weeks, One store, One month.

The Reebok flash store is located at 169 Bowery @ Delancey. Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 7pm from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15.

Quotes to Live by...or Not

While waiting for the train this morning, I came across the following quotes on the web. The first may lift your eyebrow a bit, but the other two are awesome.

“You have a better life if you wear impressive clothes,” – Vivienne Westwood

“While clothes may not make the woman, they certainly have a strong effect on her self-confidence—which, I believe, does make the woman.” – Mary Kay Ashe

“Fashion anticipates, and elegance is a state of mind ... a mirror of the time in which we live, a translation of the future, and should never be static.” – Oleg Cassini

Poltically Savy

Three words...Have You Voted?!?!

I got up extra early this morning thinking I would beat the other voters in my
Harlem neighborhood, but apparently everyone is soooo excited about this election! (Squeal!) I know there will be tons of celebratory parties tonight and this weekend. So as soon as you get off work (and after you vote of course), head to your favorite retailer and grab a few politically happy dresses. Better yet, go on your lunch break...this is serious business.

With that in mind, you know Momma wouldn't leave you hanging. Here are a few of my favorite colorblocking styles that will make you burst with American pride.

1. Moschino, Flower Print Dress, $750

2. Cynthia Steffe Loan Colorblock Dress, $159

3. Bebe Cross Strap Colorblock Dress, $98
